Air India has entered the world’s top five airlines for on-time performance in June, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium’s latest On-Time Performance (OTP) Report, marking a sharp improvement from the previous month. The airline is ranked fourth in Cirium’s global airline rankings with an on-time arrival performance of 86.85 per cent in June, up from 73.12 per cent in May and 79.04 per cent in April. The airline was placed behind Saudia, Korean Air and Aeromexico, while Singapore Airlines completed the top five.
The airline also featured fourth in the Asia Pacific rankings, with Jeju Air leading the regional list, followed by Korean Air, Scoot and Air India. Singapore Airlines was ranked fifth.
Cirium defines on-time performance as flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time. To qualify for the rankings, airlines must meet stringent data coverage requirements and are assessed using actual gate arrival data.
The report also highlighted strong operational performance at Indian airports. Chennai International Airport ranked fifth among the world’s large airports with an on-time departure performance of 92.11 per cent in June.
Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport also featured among the top 20 large airports globally, ranking 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively.
Among medium-sized airports, Ahmedabad Airport secured the third spot globally with an on-time departure performance of 90.15 per cent, while Cochin International Airport ranked 13th among small airports with 88.11 per cent.
Globally, Saudia topped the airline rankings with an on-time arrival rate of 92.38 per cent, followed by Korean Air (88.56 per cent), Aeromexico (86.94 per cent), Air India (86.85 per cent) and Singapore Airlines (86.74 per cent).
