Jensen Huang, the chief executive of Nvidia, will no longer travel to New Delhi for next week’s India AI Impact Summit, where he had been expected to be one of the marquee speakers. The event is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. Huang was also scheduled to address the media in the capital on Wednesday. However, Nvidia’s India communications partner, MSL Group, said in an email that the visit has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Huang had been expected to be one of the headline attractions at the summit, which is set to bring together global technology leaders, policymakers and investors for discussions on artificial intelligence, infrastructure and digital policy.
According to company statement, Huang was originally scheduled to address reporters in New Delhi ahead of the summit and participate in sessions during the event. However, Nvidia’s India communications partner informed via email that the CEO would no longer travel because of “unforeseen circumstances.”
In a statement, Nvidia said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jensen Huang is unable to travel to India at this time. NVIDIA remains deeply committed to the AI Impact Summit and to India’s rapidly advancing AI ecosystem.”
“A senior NVIDIA delegation, led by Executive Vice President Jay Puri, will be on ground to celebrate India’s exceptional AI researchers, startups, developers, and the partners building the nation’s AI infrastructure,” Nvidia added.
