8th Pay Commission Update: The 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) has launched its official website — https://8cpc.gov.in/ — and has begun seeking suggestions and inputs from ministries, departments, central government employees, pensioners and other stakeholders. Soon after the website went live, the Pay Commission invited responses through a structured questionnaire hosted on the MyGov portal.
What the 8th Pay Commission said
In a statement posted on its official website, the Pay Commission said, “The 8th Central Pay Commission solicits views/opinions/inputs for being better informed. These inputs are being sought in a structured manner through a questionnaire with 18 questions hosted on the MyGov.in web portal. Responses are invited from ministries, departments, state/UTs, employees of the government, employees of Union Territories, judicial officers, officers/employees of courts, members of regulatory bodies, associations or unions of serving or retired employees, pensioners, researchers, academicians and individuals.”
The Commission also clarified that the identity of respondents will remain confidential.

“The names of respondents will not be revealed and responses to the questionnaire will be analysed/disclosed on an aggregate non-attributable basis,” the statement said.
Last date to submit the questionnaire
The last date to submit responses is Monday, March 16, 2026, according to the 8th Pay Commission.
“All responses should be through the MyGov portal. Paper-based physical response, emails or pdf response are not being considered by the commission,” the Pay Commission said.
Who can participate?
The questionnaire is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including:
Central government employees
Union Territory employees
Judicial officers and court staff
Members and employees of regulatory bodies
Associations or unions of serving and retired employees
Pensioners
Researchers and academicians
Other concerned individuals
To ensure wider participation, the questionnaire is available in both English and Hindi. The government has clarified that only submissions made through the MyGov platform will be accepted.

Some of the key questions asked include:
The guiding philosophy the 8th CPC should adopt considering economic growth, inflation and fiscal pressures
What the fitment factor should represent and aim to achieve
How the salary of top officials like Secretaries should be determined
Whether increments should be uniform or vary across pay scales
The formation of the 8th Pay Commission was announced in January 2025. It was formally notified by the Ministry of Finance on November 3, 2025.
Will arrears be paid from January 1, 2026?
In December 2025, four MPs raised questions in the Lok Sabha about the implementation date of the 8th Pay Commission. Replying on behalf of the Finance Ministry, Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary said, “The date for implementing the 8th Central Pay Commission will be decided by the government. The government will make appropriate provisions of funds for implementing the accepted recommendations of 8th CPC.”
No specific implementation date was announced.
