Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju on Sunday said that the Union Budget 2026-2027 is very unique in many senses as it’s purely economic, financial, and everything in the national interest adding the reform express of Prime Minister is already in full gear.
In an exclusive conversation with Times Now Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar when asked whether he was disappointed that this budget hasn’t really been appreciated by the opposition as Rahul Gandhi called it blind, and how he would rate it, Kiren Rijiju said that they are not expecting any appreciation from the Opposition and moreover, Rahul Gandhi is the least expected one to speak anything good about what’s good for the country.
“I think we are not expecting any appreciation from the opposition party. And moreover, Rahul Gandhi is the least expected one to speak anything good about what is good for the country. So, I am not actually bothered by how the opposition reacts,” Rijiju said.
Highlighting some key highlights from the budget, Rijiju said, “What is important is, this budget is very unique in many senses. It has not touched upon anything which is so-called appeasement, you know, or making some election announcement or something like political. Nothing.”
“It is purely economic, financial, and everything in the national interest. No politics. So, from big structural reforms to small-time support for the medium and small enterprises and different sectors, especially the north-eastern region and for the creation of express highways, infrastructure, and also to take care of these, you know, exports, especially in marine products,” he said.
“If you see throughout the budget, it is from the grassroots to the cutting-edge technology, all the necessary supports have been provided. So, I think the reform express of Prime Minister is already in full gear. And we are confident that with this kind of budget, we will be very much on target to achieve the Viksit Bharat, fully developed country by 2047,” Rijiju said.
